What sales training software is, and where real calls fit
Sales training software helps new reps learn how your team sells and helps managers check that they do it on calls. A training platform usually covers three steps of a ramp: learn the playbook, rehearse it, then perform it with real buyers.
Most tools are built for one step. Claap is built for the third, and it turns the calls of that step into the material new hires learn from.
- 01
Learn
Courses, quizzes and completion tracking in a learning platform. Claap does not do this part.
- 02
Rehearse
AI roleplay against a simulated buyer before the first real call. Claap does not do this either.
- 03
Perform on real calls
Your best calls become onboarding videos, and a new rep’s first calls are scored on your criteria. This is Claap.
What sales leaders ask of training
Lines from recorded discovery and onboarding calls this year. Names removed.
“We can’t pull people off the floor for an hour, the opportunity cost is too high. So we want to be a lot more prescriptive in the trainings that we assign, based on how our reps are performing during calls.”
Heard from · Go-to-market team, US fintech scale-upWhy this hurts
Training gets assigned from what each rep did on calls, not from a calendar. That needs every call measured on the same criteria.
“There is a lot of industry knowledge that you need to catch up with. It’s a pretty niche industry, so the terminology and the structure of these firms needs to be understood really well when you start speaking with these people.”
Heard from · Revenue team, B2B AI start-upWhy this hurts
The words buyers use and how their firms work are on your recorded calls. A new hire can hear them before the first discovery.
“Quickly summarize and review cold calls, key trends by team member: what objections they’re getting, but also how are they winning deals. [...] Also from a training perspective.”
Heard from · Sales leader, US sports companyWhy this hurts
The objections new reps will meet are already on last month’s calls, with the answers that worked next to them.
“I do a lot of call reviews. It’s so easy to comment, put an emoji, and say, ‘Good point on that topic’ or ‘You should phrase it differently’.”
From your best calls to a rep who is ready
Your best answers, in one video for new hires
- Add clips from several calls to one recording, so new reps hear your best answers without replaying whole calls.
- Trim each passage or remove the silences in one click, so the video keeps only what is worth hearing.
- Add chapters and a thumbnail, so the video is easy to find and to navigate in your onboarding folder.

Train on the objections buyers raised this month
- Filter the report on Objection to build a session from what buyers said this month, not from last year’s slide.
- Open any clip in the transcript to hear how the rep answered, at the moment the objection came up.
- Export the table as CSV to write the objection-handling guide your new hires will learn from.

“We cannot sign until procurement sees the SOC 2 report.”
Score a new rep’s first calls on your criteria
- Start from a MEDDIC, MEDDPICC, BANT or SPICED template, or write criteria for SPIN, Challenger or your own method.
- Highlight a transcript line and tag the new rep: your comment opens the call at that moment, not at minute zero.
- Click a rep’s avatar to play only their own segments, and hear how they handled the buyer in a few minutes.

See whether the ramp is working, month by month
- Follow a new rep’s rating month by month and criterion by criterion, to see which skill is still behind.
- Talk time, longest monologue and question rate per rep, against the team average, to coach the habits behind the score.
- The leaderboard shows who to learn from on each criterion, so you know whose calls go in the next onboarding video.

Six questions to pick sales training software
What sales leaders end up checking during a trial. Ask them of every vendor, us included.
Which step of the ramp is it for?
Courses, rehearsal or real calls. A learning platform will not tell you how a new rep handled yesterday’s demo.
Does it use your calls or generic ones?
Check that onboarding material can come from your own recorded calls, with your buyers and your product.
Are new reps judged like senior ones?
A new hire should be scored on the criteria the team is held to, not on a separate quiz.
Is every call scored, or a sample?
The first weeks are where mistakes cost least to fix. Ask whether scoring runs on each new call automatically.
Can you check required steps?
If a call must include a disclosure or a qualification question, ask whether a criterion can check it on every call.
Can you see the ramp?
Ask for a report that follows each rep criterion by criterion, month by month, against the team average.
Sales training software, answered
What is sales training software?
Software that helps reps learn how the team sells and helps managers check that they apply it. It comes as learning platforms (courses and quizzes), AI roleplay tools (rehearsal) and tools that work on real calls. Claap is the third kind: it turns your best calls into training videos and scores each rep’s calls on your criteria.
How does sales training software differ from a learning platform?
A learning platform delivers courses and tracks completion. Claap scores real calls on your criteria, per rep and per role, so you see whether the training shows up in front of buyers, not only in quiz results. Many teams run both.
How does Claap help ramp new reps faster?
New reps watch how your best reps answer the objections they are about to meet, in a video assembled from real calls. Their own first calls are then scored on the team’s criteria, and a manager can comment on the exact line. Coaching starts in week one instead of after the first lost deal.
Does Claap do AI roleplay or courses?
No. Claap has no simulated buyers and no courses or quizzes. It works on the calls reps actually run, after each call ends. Teams that want rehearsal or a course catalogue add a roleplay tool or a learning platform next to it.
Can sales training software track compliance on calls?
Claap can check that a required step happened on each call. You write a criterion such as “Did the rep give the recording notice?” with a Checkbox or rating output, and it runs on every new call. It tells you which calls missed the step; it does not certify regulatory compliance.
Which sales methodologies can new reps be trained on?
MEDDIC, MEDDPICC, SPICED, SPIN, Challenger, Scotsman and BANT, plus criteria you write yourself. MEDDIC, MEDDPICC, BANT and SPICED ship as templates you can edit, and each role can have its own criteria.
Which plans include the training features?
Call scoring and AI coaching are included in Business, at €48 per seat per month on annual billing, and Enterprise. Commenting on the transcript and assembling clips into one video start on Pro, at €24. Magic Clips work on meetings with external participants.
Does Claap work with our CRM and call tools?
Calls come in from Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and dialers such as Aircall and Ringover. From Business, Claap writes to HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive and Attio. Slack and Notion work on every plan.
